Headlice

The school will observe recommendations of the Illinois Department of Public Health regarding head lice.

Parents/Guardians should notify the school if they suspect their child has head lice. While head lice is not a disease, it is considered a nuisance problem.  When head lice is found on a student at school whether live or eggs (nits), a parent/guardian will be notified immediately, and a child will need to be picked up from school. Written instructions regarding appropriate treatment for infestation will be provided at this time. A student excluded because of head lice will be permitted to return to school ONLY when the parent/guardian brings the student to school to be checked by the school nurse or personnel and the child is determined to be free of head lice and nits. Infested children are excluded from all extracurricular activities and riding the bus.
