As required by the State of Illinois and Illinois Department of Public Health certain grade levels and students will be screened for hearing and vision each school year.
-Hearing screens will be conducted on Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grade Students. They are also given to all new and special education students.
-Vision screens will be conducted on Pre-K, Kindergarten, Second and Eighth Grade Students. They are also given to all new and special education students. Please be aware that a school vision screening is not a substitute for a complete exam by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo a vision screening at school if an optometrist has completed and signed a report indicating that an eye examination has been administrated in the last 12 months. If this has been done, please send to school for your child's records.
-If your child is unable to complete the school-based vision or hearing screens, you will receive a letter of notification with further follow-up instructions.
